CUET UG 2026 Delayed at Several Centres Due to Technical Glitch; NTA Revises Exam Timing, Candidates Face Chaos

CUET UG 2026 Delayed at Several Centres Due to Technical Glitch; NTA Revises Exam Timing, Candidates Face Chaos

Technical Glitch Delays CUET UG 2026 at Multiple Examination Centres

The Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET UG) 2026 witnessed significant disruptions on May 30 after a technical glitch delayed the commencement of the examination at several centres across the country.

According to the National Testing Agency (NTA), Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the technology partner involved in conducting the examination, reported a technical issue that affected the start of the examination at some centres. The agency later confirmed that the issue had been resolved and the examination was being conducted with full compensatory time to ensure that no candidate was disadvantaged.

The disruption led to confusion among candidates and parents, particularly at centres where students had already completed entry formalities and were waiting for the examination to begin.

NTA stated that every affected candidate would receive the complete examination duration despite the delay.

NTA Revises CUET UG 2026 Afternoon Session Timing

Following the technical issue, the National Testing Agency revised the timing for the afternoon session examination.

Revised Schedule

Particulars Revised Timing
Reporting and Entry From 2:30 PM
Examination Start Time 4:00 PM
Original Start Time 3:00 PM

The one-hour delay was introduced to accommodate the disruption caused during the morning session and ensure a smooth conduct of the examination.

NTA also clarified that candidates appearing in the morning shift were given the full duration of their examination papers and were allowed to leave only after completing the allotted test time.

Candidates Report Chaos at Examination Centres

Despite the revised arrangements, several candidates reported confusion and uncertainty at examination centres before official communication reached them.

At Adarsh Pariksha Kendra in Noida Sector-64, students claimed that they had entered the centre as early as 7:00 AM and were made to wait for several hours due to technical issues.

Candidates alleged that invigilators informed them about server-related problems and difficulties in downloading the question papers, which prevented the examination from commencing on time.

Some students further stated that they were asked to leave the premises around 11:00 AM and wait for further communication from the authorities.

The situation reportedly affected candidates who had travelled long distances from Delhi, Haryana, Jaipur and other regions to appear for the examination.

NTA Expresses Regret Over Inconvenience

The National Testing Agency acknowledged the disruption and issued an official statement expressing regret for the inconvenience caused to students and parents.

According to NTA, the technical issue was identified and resolved promptly. The agency reiterated that no candidate would suffer any loss of examination time due to the delay.

The testing agency assured students that all necessary measures had been taken to ensure fairness and transparency in the examination process.

Candidates facing any issues were advised to contact the official NTA helpdesk through the designated helpline number and email support.

Why Technical Infrastructure is Crucial for CUET UG

CUET UG is conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode across multiple examination centres nationwide.

As a result, uninterrupted server connectivity, secure access to question papers and stable examination systems are critical for the smooth conduct of the test.

Any technical disruption can directly affect thousands of candidates appearing simultaneously at different centres, making robust digital infrastructure essential for national-level examinations.

About CUET UG

The Common University Entrance Test (CUET UG) was introduced in 2022 as a standardized national-level entrance examination for undergraduate admissions.

The examination serves as a common admission gateway for Central Universities, State Universities, Deemed Universities and participating institutions across India.

Aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, CUET UG evaluates candidates on language proficiency, domain-specific subjects and general aptitude, providing a uniform platform for higher education admissions.

Due to the large number of applicants and multiple subject combinations, the examination is conducted over several days and shifts.
