BPSC APO 2026 Exam Pattern & Detailed Syllabus for Preliminary and Main Examination
Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has released the detailed exam pattern and syllabus for the Assistant Prosecution Officer (APO) Examination 2026. Candidates preparing for the 300 APO posts must carefully understand the three-stage selection process — Preliminary Exam, Main Exam, and Interview.
Selection Process
The APO recruitment examination will be conducted in three stages:
- Preliminary Examination
- Main Examination
- Interview (100 Marks)
Only candidates qualifying in each stage will be eligible to proceed to the next phase.
Preliminary Examination Pattern
The Preliminary Exam will consist of two objective-type papers:

Candidates up to 10 times the total vacancies will be shortlisted for the Main Examination.

Main Examination Pattern
The Main Examination will consist of eight descriptive papers:

- Each paper duration: 3 Hours
- Hindi & English language papers are qualifying (minimum 30 marks required)
- Marks obtained in Main Exam + Interview will determine final merit

The level of questions from core law papers will be equivalent to LLB standard (Patna University level).
Interview (Viva-Voce)
- Total Marks: 100
- Final merit will be prepared based on Main Exam + Interview Marks
- Attendance in interview is mandatory
