CUET UG 2026 Re-Exam Announced: NTA to Conduct Fresh Examination for 3,765 Affected Candidates

NTA Releases Official Public Notice on CUET UG 2026 Technical Glitch

New Delhi, May 30, 2026: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially announced a re-scheduled examination for 3,765 candidates affected by the technical glitch that disrupted the Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET UG) 2026 Shift-I examination held on May 30, 2026.

In a public notice issued on Saturday, NTA confirmed that unforeseen technical issues at certain examination centres delayed the commencement of the examination. The agency has directed its technology service provider, TCS, to conduct a detailed Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and submit an immediate report regarding the incident.

CUET UG 2026 Technical Glitch: What Happened?

According to the official notice, the technical glitch impacted several examination centres during Shift-I of CUET UG 2026 on May 30.

The disruption caused delays in starting the examination, leading to uncertainty among candidates waiting at their respective centres.

To determine the exact reason behind the issue, NTA has instructed TCS to investigate the matter and identify the root cause of the failure.

Over 73,000 Candidates Reported for Examination

NTA revealed that a total of 73,106 candidates were present at their allotted examination centres and successfully completed biometric registration.

Out of these:

  • 69,341 candidates (approximately 95%) completed their examination successfully.
  • 3,765 candidates left their examination centres before the examination resumed due to the delay caused by the technical glitch.

The agency clarified that these candidates were present at their centres and had completed biometric verification but could not appear for the examination because they left before the test resumed.

Re-Examination to Be Conducted as a One-Time Measure

To ensure fairness and equal opportunity, NTA has decided to conduct a special re-examination for the affected 3,765 candidates.

The official notice states that only those candidates who:

  • Were present at their allotted examination centre on May 30, 2026 (Shift-I)
  • Completed biometric registration
  • Could not take the examination due to the technical delay

will be eligible to appear in the rescheduled examination.

The agency described this as a "one-time measure" aimed at protecting the interests of affected students.

CUET UG 2026 Re-Exam Date Yet to Be Announced

NTA has not yet announced the date of the re-examination.

The notice clearly states that the examination date, city details, admit card information, and other instructions will be notified separately through official channels.

Candidates are advised to keep checking the official websites regularly for updates.
