About the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC)
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of India is a statutory public body constituted on 12 October 1993 under the Protection of Human Rights Ordinance, 1993. It was later given a statutory basis by the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993 (PHRA).
The NHRC is entrusted with safeguarding and promoting human rights, defined under the Act as the rights relating to life, liberty, equality, and dignity of individuals, guaranteed by the Constitution or embodied in international covenants and enforceable by courts in India.
About the Internship – September 2025
The NHRC is inviting applications for its “Online Short Term Internship Programme – September 2025”. This internship aims to familiarize students with the working of the Commission and enhance their understanding of human rights issues in India.
- Duration: 2 Weeks
- Dates: 22nd September 2025 – 3rd October 2025
- Mode: Online
- Timings: 10:00 AM – 5:30 PM (Monday to Friday)
- Type: Full-time internship
Eligibility Criteria
Applications are invited from students across India. The eligibility requirements are:
- Students in 3rd year or above of an integrated 5-year LL.B. or other 5-year PG course.
- Students in 3rd or final year of any graduation course.
- Students of any semester/year of post-graduate degree/diploma courses.
- Research scholars in any stream.
- Candidates must have at least 60% marks in Class XII and all subsequent courses. The CGPA-to-percentage conversion formula must also be provided.
- The applicant’s age should not exceed 28 years as of 1st August 2025.
Stipend and Award
- Stipend: ₹2,000 (Two Thousand only)
- Certificate of Participation: Awarded on the basis of:
- Attendance, punctuality, and discipline
- Active participation in online sessions
- Submission of project presentation, project report, and book review on time
Documents Required
Applications without the following documents will be rejected:
- Statement of Purpose (SoP): A 250-word write-up on “Why I want to join NHRC Online Short Term Internship”.
- Mark sheets: Self-attested scanned copies of Class XII onwards and current course mark sheets.
- Recommendation Letter: Scanned recommendation letter/email by HOD/Dean/Principal (in the prescribed proforma).
