The Department of Legal Affairs (DOLA) is a part of the Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India, established in 1961. The Department plays a crucial role in providing legal advice to various ministries and government organizations while handling litigation in courts across India.
About the Internship Opportunity
The Department of Legal Affairs Internship Programme 2025 aims to familiarize young law students and graduates with the functioning of DOLA. Interns will receive training in:
- Research & Referencing work
- Court Functioning
- Tendering legal advice in areas such as constitutional law, administrative law, finance law, infrastructure law, labour law, arbitration, contract law, and more.
Eligibility Criteria
- Indian law students who have completed 2nd year of a 3-year LLB or 3rd year of a 5-year integrated LLB programme.
- Law graduates from any recognized university are also eligible.
- Preference will be given to candidates with advanced computer skills (MS Office, infographics, Adobe, etc.).
Duration of Internship
- One month (commences from the first working day of every month).

Selection Process
- 50 candidates will be selected each month.
- Shortlisted candidates will be notified via the Internship Portal or email.
Internship Deployment Locations
- Main Secretariat, New Delhi
- Central Agency Section, Supreme Court
- Litigation HC Section, Delhi
- Branch Secretariats in Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru
Submission of Report & Certificate
- Interns must submit a monthly report and research work at the end of the internship.
- On successful completion, interns will receive a Certificate of Internship, subject to:
- 90% attendance
- Satisfactory remarks from supervisors
Honorarium
- An honorarium of ₹1000 will be provided after successful completion of the internship.
Terms & Conditions
- Internship is full-time and offline.
- Interns must arrange their own accommodation.
- Formal dress code: Black trousers & white shirt.
- Confidentiality agreement (NDA) must be signed.
- Internship does not guarantee future employment.
