New Delhi, September 7, 2025 – The Bar Council of India (BCI) has released the official dress code and exam day guidelines for the upcoming All India Bar Examination (AIBE 20). Candidates must follow these instructions strictly, as any violation may result in disqualification from the exam hall. The AIBE 20 exam is expected to be held in July 2025 in pen-and-paper mode across multiple test centres in India.

AIBE 20 Exam Dress Code 2025 – Key Guidelines

The dress code is designed to maintain comfort, discipline, and security inside the exam hall. Here are the main points:

✅ Clothing Rules

  • Wear comfortable and simple attire suitable for long sitting hours.
  • Formal or semi-formal clothes such as shirts, trousers, skirts, or plain dresses are preferred.
  • Avoid heavy patterns, slogans, or flashy designs.
  • Light sweaters or jackets are allowed but should be easily removable during frisking.

✅ Footwear Guidelines

  • Candidates should wear closed-toe shoes like sneakers, flats, or formal shoes.
  • Avoid slippers, sandals, or high heels as they may cause inconvenience or be restricted.

✅ Accessories and Electronics

  • Do not wear watches, smartwatches, heavy jewellery, or large accessories.
  • Headgear like caps, hats, or scarves is not allowed, except for religious or medical reasons.
  • Electronic devices such as mobiles, Bluetooth devices, or calculators are strictly prohibited.

✅ Religious Attire

  • Religious or cultural clothing (such as turbans, hijabs, or scarves) is permitted as long as it does not obstruct the security process.

AIBE 20 Exam Day Guidelines 2025

Apart from the dress code, candidates must follow these exam instructions:

  • Carry a clear printout of the AIBE 20 Admit Card 2025.
  • Bring a valid government-issued photo ID (Aadhaar, Voter ID, PAN, Passport, or Driving License).
  • Carry two passport-size photographs (same as the admit card photo).
  • Use only a blue/black ballpoint pen for filling the OMR sheet.
  • Reach the exam centre on time; gates will close at 9:50 AM sharp.
  • Submit rough sheets and a copy of the admit card before leaving the hall.

AIBE 2025: Important Dos and Don’ts

  • Carry admit card, photo ID, and photographs.
  • Self-attest the self-declaration form.
  • Wear plain, simple clothing.
  • Follow all security and frisking procedures.

❌ Don’ts

  • Don’t carry mobile phones, smartwatches, or electronic devices.
  • Don’t bring calculators, notes, or written material.
  • Don’t wear jewellery, jackets, or bulky clothes.
  • Don’t carry eatables inside the exam hall.
  • Don’t reach late – latecomers will not be allowed.

Are Bare Acts Allowed in AIBE 20 Exam 2025?

Yes, Bare Acts without short notes are permitted in the exam. Candidates may bring:

  • Original Bare Acts (without notes).
  • Photocopies or downloaded versions (without notes).
  • Bare Acts with minimal notes will be allowed only if plain versions are not available.

⚠️ Important: Any Bare Act with handwritten notes or markings will be disallowed. Candidates will need to leave them outside the exam hall.
