Department of Legal Affairs Opens Applications for Internship Programme 2026

The Department of Legal Affairs (DOLA), functioning under the Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India, has invited applications for its Internship Programme 2026. The internship offers law students and law graduates an opportunity to gain firsthand exposure to the functioning of the Government's legal machinery and develop practical skills in legal research, drafting, court procedures, and policy-related legal work.

Eligibility Criteria

Applications are invited from:

Three-Year LL.B. Students

Students who have successfully completed the second year of their three-year law programme.

Five-Year Integrated Law Students

Students who have completed the third year of their integrated law programme.

Law Graduates

Candidates who have completed their law degree from a recognized university or law school.

Additional Preference

Applicants possessing advanced computer skills such as:

  • MS Office
  • Infographics
  • Adobe Applications
  • Legal Documentation Software

may receive preference during the selection process.

Internship Duration

The internship is generally conducted for:

One Month

The programme ordinarily begins on the first working day of each month unless otherwise specified by the Department.

Number of Interns Selected

The Department has announced that:

50 Interns

will be selected for each internship cycle.

Selection will be based on the eligibility criteria and departmental guidelines.

Shortlisted candidates will be informed through the Internship Portal and email communication.

Internship Certificate

Successful interns will receive an official Internship Certificate.

Conditions for Certificate

  • Minimum 90% Attendance
  • Satisfactory Performance
  • Positive Evaluation by Supervising Officer
  • Submission of Required Reports

The certificate can significantly strengthen a student's legal profile and future applications.

Honorarium

Selected interns may receive:

₹1,000 Honorarium

The honorarium will be provided upon successful completion of the internship programme.

Important Terms and Conditions

Candidates should note the following:

  • Internship is full-time and physical.
  • Interns cannot simultaneously pursue another internship or employment.
  • Accommodation must be arranged by interns themselves.
  • Working hours are generally 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
  • Interns must maintain confidentiality regarding official work.
  • A Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) must be signed.
  • Internship does not guarantee employment with the Department.

Law Graduates
