Hostel Allocation Begins at Allahabad University for Academic Session 2025-26, Hostel-wise Seat Availability & Fees
Prayagraj – The admission process for the academic session 2025-26 at Allahabad University has reached its final stage. With entrance exams, counselling, and course enrolments now complete, preparations for hostel allocations are underway. In fact, allocation in certain hostels is starting from today. Thousands of students from across the country, who have secured admission, are eagerly awaiting a place in the university’s hostels.
Massive Demand, Limited Seats
Every year, lakhs of students apply for admission to Allahabad University, but only about 20,000 manage to secure a seat. Once the admission process concludes, the hostel allotment process begins – a challenging task due to the limited number of seats compared to the demand. Thousands of students apply online for hostel accommodation each year, but only a select few are successful in securing a room.
Fully Online Application & Document Verification
This year, the application process for hostel accommodation has been made entirely online. Students are required to log in to the university’s official website, fill out the hostel application form, and upload essential documents, including:
- Admission Certificate
- Caste Certificate (if applicable)
- Residence Proof
- Income Certificate
After uploading these documents, students must also fill out a physical form at the hostel to complete the allocation process. Only after this step will the hostel allotment be considered final.
Upgraded Facilities and Student Expectations
According to the university administration, several improvements have been made to hostel facilities this year. Renovation work has been carried out in many hostels, with enhanced amenities such as reading rooms and Wi-Fi connectivity. In terms of food arrangements, kitchens have been replaced with a dedicated mess system for better hygiene and management. Students will need to pay separately for meals on a per-meal basis.
With almost all admission formalities completed, students are now anxiously awaiting hostel allocation notifications. Many are checking their emails and university portals regularly to know when their accommodation will be confirmed. For them, securing a hostel seat marks the true beginning of their academic journey in the city.

Mandatory Caution Money Deposit
In addition to the hostel fee, students will be required to deposit ₹5,000 as caution money at the time of hostel admission. This amount will be refunded when the student vacates the hostel, provided there are no damages or dues.
