Delhi School of Journalism to Host Swami Vivekananda Memorial National Debate on April 24, 2026
The Delhi School of Journalism under University of Delhi is set to organise the 3rd Edition of the Swami Vivekananda Memorial National Debate Competition 2026 on April 24, 2026. The event is being hosted by Chaupal – The Debate Society, known for promoting intellectual dialogue and debating culture among students.
Inspired by the ideals of Swami Vivekananda, the competition aims to encourage fearless thinking, expression, and the practical application of ideas among youth. The debate will take place at the G-6 Seminar Hall, Delhi School of Journalism, beginning at 8:30 AM onwards.
This national-level competition is expected to witness participation from various colleges and universities, making it a prestigious academic platform for students to showcase their oratory and analytical skills.

🎯 Debate Motion
The topic for this year’s debate is:
“This House believes that social media platforms should be legally prohibited for users under the age of 16.”
This motion addresses a crucial contemporary issue involving technology regulation, youth protection, and freedom of expression. It is expected to generate insightful arguments from both sides.
The debate will be conducted in a bilingual format (Hindi & English), allowing participants to express their views effectively while maintaining linguistic consistency within teams.
🏆 Competition Format & Rules
- Each team will consist of two members (one for the motion, one against)
- Time Limit: 3 minutes per speaker
- No interjections allowed
- Bell system will indicate time warnings
- Only institutional team entries permitted
- Maximum one team per college
Strict adherence to parliamentary language and decorum is mandatory. Any use of offensive or unparliamentary expressions will lead to disqualification.
The competition is open to Undergraduate and Postgraduate students only, ensuring a focused academic environment.
