New Delhi, September 9, 2025 – The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the exam city allocation details for the upcoming Combined Graduate Level (CGL) 2025 Tier-1 Examination. According to SSC, nearly 93% of candidates have been allotted their first, second, or third choice of exam centres, while the rest have been placed in nearby available cities.
📊 SSC CGL 2025: Total Registrations
This year, 2,814,604 candidates have registered for the SSC CGL Tier-1 exam. The exam centres have been allotted on the basis of preferences filled by candidates during the online application process.
🚗 Average Distance Between Candidate & Exam Centre
For candidates who could not be accommodated in their preferred city, SSC has allotted centres in the nearest available cities. The commission has confirmed that the average distance between the candidate’s address and the allotted city is 168 km.
🕒 SSC CGL 2025 Exam in Single Shift
In a major update, SSC Chairman S. Gopalakrishnan announced that the CGL Tier-1 Exam 2025 will be conducted in a single shift only.
- This step has been taken to ensure fairness and transparency, and to avoid technical glitches.
- Additionally, exam centres will be allotted within a maximum 100 km radius from the candidate’s location.

The exam was earlier scheduled for August 2025, but was postponed due to:

- Complaints regarding distant exam centres
