The NITI Aayog (National Institution for Transforming India), the premier policy think tank of the Government of India, has opened applications for its Internship Scheme 2025. This programme offers students and research scholars a chance to gain first-hand exposure to policy formulation, implementation, and governance at the national level.
🏛️ About NITI Aayog
NITI Aayog serves as the apex public policy think tank of the Government of India. It plays a crucial role in catalyzing economic development, promoting cooperative federalism, and involving State Governments in economic policy-making through a bottom-up approach.
🎓 About the Internship Programme
Launched in 2015, the NITI Aayog Internship Scheme seeks to engage UG/PG students and research scholars enrolled in recognized universities in India or abroad. The programme provides interns with practical insights into policy analysis, research, and governance mechanisms.
- Duration: Minimum 6 weeks and up to 6 months
- Mode: Full-time internship at NITI Aayog, New Delhi
✅ Eligibility Criteria
The following categories of students can apply:
Undergraduate Students
- Must have completed/appeared in 2nd year/4th semester exams of bachelor’s degree.
- Must have secured at least 85% marks in Class 12.
Postgraduate Students / Research Scholars
- Must have completed/appeared in the first year/second semester of PG course OR pursuing research/Ph.D.
- Must have secured at least 70% marks in graduation.
Recent Graduates / Postgraduates
- Those who have just completed graduation/post-graduation and are waiting for admission to higher studies.
- Must have secured 70% or more cumulative marks.
- The internship must begin within 6 months of result declaration.
📝 Application Procedure
- Applications must be submitted online only at the NITI Aayog Internship Portal:

- Applications can be made 6 months in advance, but not later than 2 months before the desired internship month.
- Applicants must clearly indicate their area of interest.
- A candidate can apply only once per financial year.
- Selected candidates must produce:
- Original mark sheets
- NOC from college/institution (as per Annexure C in the official guidelines).
