BHU PG Spot Round Registration 2025 Begins

Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has officially started the Spot Round Admission process for Postgraduate (PG) courses from August 12, 2025. The registration window will remain open until August 17, 2025 (11:59 PM) on the official website. Eligible candidates can now apply for admission against the vacant PG seats across the main campus, affiliated colleges, and South Campus.

Who Can Apply for BHU PG Spot Round?

The Spot Round is open to:

  • Fresh candidates who did not register for BHU PG Counseling earlier. They need to pay a non-refundable fee of ₹500.
  • Candidates already registered in the BHU PG Counseling process but:
    • Were waitlisted and not allotted any seat.
    • Were allotted a seat but failed to pay the admission fee within the deadline.
    • Paid the fee but their admission was cancelled/withdrawn/rejected during verification.

✅ Such candidates can add/alter new programs based on the available vacant seats.

Important Note for Spot Round Applicants

  • In GD-PI/Practical/Performance-based Test courses, only waitlisted candidates who appeared earlier will be eligible for the Spot Round.
  • Candidates must check seat availability and eligibility in their preferred PG programs before applying.
  • Eligibility criteria details are available in the PG Information Bulletin 2025.
  • Students who have already been allotted and frozen their seat in regular rounds cannot participate in the Spot Round.
  • The online portal is frozen for already admitted students; the option to “upgrade” or “withdraw” was closed after 12:00 noon on August 12, 2025.

Vacant Seats Across BHU PG Courses

BHU has released the detailed list of program/college-wise vacant seats. According to the official notice, seats are available across:

  • Main Campus Departments
  • Affiliated Colleges (Arya Mahila PG College, Vasanta Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Vasanta Kanya Mahavidyalaya, DAV PG College)
  • Rajiv Gandhi South Campus (Barkachha, Mirzapur)

Vacancies include both general category and reserved category seats, along with paid seat options in certain programs.

Allocation Based on Merit

BHU has confirmed that the allocation of seats in the Spot Round will be strictly on a merit basis among registered candidates. This ensures fair distribution of seats to the most deserving applicants.
